Spontaneous Still Lifes

June 24th, 2008

My wife will tell you that the one thing that will interrupt a meal out is my taking pictures of the food. Of course, the lighting is not the same as when I photograph food and other objects in my studio and the limited space at a restaurant table means limited composition possibilities but sometimes I come away with some gems, and am forced to try angles and distances I would probably not consider in the studio.

These are fun photos for me. What I see in them is a stolen moment, a view into the temporal nature of our world, a vision and sense of “right now.”

Why not take your camera along to your next meal to give it a shot?

Shoot with Vasara: Edited Photos

June 14th, 2008

My last post featured an unedited photo of Vasara Noxxul, a model who came by to participate in my tattoo project. Vasara was a lot of fun to work with. She is the type of person who is really an expert at what she does and it is clear that she enjoys it. Seeing that type of expertise and passion is a lot of fun to watch. Here is another photo from the shoot. Click on it to see the select edited images.

Photos from My Shoot with Vasara

June 12th, 2008

Vasara is a local model who came over recently for my tattoo project. I am very excited about the photos, as she was incredible at posing and very expressive. I haven’t even edited the photos yet but wanted to post a preview here. Keep an eye out for the whole set of photos.
